Napa Valley has so many beautiful places to sip wine and spend the day, but V. Sattui Winery holds a special place in my heart. It’s where one of my best friends got engaged, and ever since that celebration, it’s become one of my favorite spots in Napa to revisit—especially when I want something that feels equal parts laid-back and memorable.
Set in the heart of wine country, V. Sattui is more than just a winery. It’s a place where you can grab a bottle, find a shady picnic table, and spend the afternoon enjoying good food, even better wine, and great company.
Whether you’re planning a tasting or stopping by at the last minute, this spot is one of the easiest and most welcoming places to hang out with friends, family, and kids in town.

A Taste of “Napa D’Italia”
V. Sattui calls its estate the “Napa D’Italia,” and after visiting a few times now, I totally get why. The grounds are filled with Italian-style terraces, charming picnic corners, and beautiful gardens that make you feel like you’re in the European countryside rather than just a short drive from home.
There are little nooks everywhere to sit, relax, and soak up the views. It’s a place where wine tasting doesn’t have to be formal—it can feel casual, warm, and completely your own.
There’s also something for everyone, making it ideal for families or mixed-age groups. While the grown-ups sip wine, the kids can wander through the gardens or enjoy a little snack at the table. It’s one of the few Napa wineries that really feels welcoming to all ages.

So Many Ways to Wine Taste
One of the things I love most about V. Sattui is the flexibility. If you plan ahead, there are so many tasting options to choose from, each offering a different way to experience their wines.
You can book a Reserve Tower Tasting, try the Courtyard Tasting, or go all out with a VIP seated experience. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a regular, there’s something that fits your style—and your budget.
But if you’re anything like us and sometimes show up without a reservation, don’t worry. The shop inside has a fantastic selection of bottles (and a very helpful staff), so you can easily grab a favorite wine, pick out a few bites from the artisan deli, and head outside to one of the many picnic tables shaded by ancient oak trees. That’s usually what we do, and it never disappoints.

The Ultimate Napa Picnic
V. Sattui is hands-down one of the best picnic spots in Napa Valley. Their artisan deli and salumeria offer everything you could want: gourmet sandwiches, charcuterie, fresh salads, baked goods, and over 200 cheese options. It’s hard not to go overboard, but honestly, that’s part of the fun.
You don’t have to pack a thing. Just show up, shop a little, and settle in. The atmosphere is lively but never overwhelming, and there’s a sense that everyone’s just there to enjoy life.
A Place for Celebration

Because of my friend’s engagement here, V. Sattui always feels a little extra special. It’s a place where moments happen—whether it’s a big celebration like a proposal or just a quiet afternoon catching up with someone you love. That mix of energy and calm is what keeps us coming back.
The last time we visited, construction was still underway in a few areas, and yes, it can get busy, especially on weekends. But even so, it never feels too crowded to enjoy. There’s always a table to find, a bottle to open, and a view to appreciate.
Why We Keep Coming Back
V. Sattui isn’t just a winery—it’s an experience that you can shape to fit your day, your group, or your mood. Whether you want a sit-down tasting with a host or a casual hangout with a bottle and a picnic, it’s all here. It’s kid-friendly, beautifully designed, and completely stress-free.
If you’re headed to Napa and want a spot that combines great wine, good food, and the freedom to just relax, this is it. We’ve made so many memories here already, and I know we’ll be back again soon—hopefully with another bottle, another picnic, and more people we love around the table.
