Pepsi drinkers pointed out that their increasingly bad favorite drink had also taken a hit. Like C2 and Coca-Cola, Debby Oliver of Proctor & Gamble says the change from cane sugar to high-fructose corn syrup has shifted its taste characteristics.
In 2010, Pepsi announced it would change the recipe, and since its mid-2011 debut, many loyal drinkers have criticized the “sweetened naturally and artificially flavored cola,” saying it tastes too sweet; once Pepsi’s biggest differentiator was its balanced cola flavor. Consequently, in some cases, this has resulted in the nostalgic ache of Americans across the country looking for the taste they grew up on clamoring for that traditional formula that made them fans.
Cheez-It
For years, Cheez-It was the brand gone to by people requesting a satisfied little coterie of cheesy stirred creations they could lightly cradle in their mouth holes; however, changes in the formula have made lots of former adherents disillusioned.
The crackers are not as bold with their cheese flavor; they now have a more processed, dry taste.
