I love making handmade jewelry —It’s such a fun and relaxing way to get creative, and you end up with something totally unique that reflects your personal style.
I recently saw pair of earrings while browsing in a little shop, and they completely stopped me in my tracks. They were so simple and elegant, but with a bit of a playful twist. I knew right then I had to try making a pair myself!
One of the best parts of making jewelry at home is being able to tweak things just the way you like them. I could choose the shape, size, and finish that worked best for me, and you can do the same!
Whether you’ve been making jewelry for a while or you’re just dipping your toes in, this tutorial will walk you through the steps to create your own gorgeous floral earrings. They’re surprisingly lightweight, and once you get the hang of shaping the wire, they come together beautifully.
Materials and Tools:
- Flat jewelry wire 1mm
- Round nose pliers
- Wire cutters
- Earring hooks
- A pen
- Wide flat Pliers

How To Make Gold Wire Floral Earrings
STEP 1
Take a piece of flat wire and hold about 0.5 inches of it firmly with flat-nose pliers. Bend this section to create the first fold, then bend the wire.
STEP 2:
Now, bend the wire in the opposite direction, following the same technique. Repeat this process until you have six bends, creating a continuous rounded zigzag pattern. Ensure each bend is even for a balanced design.
STEP 3:
Use pliers to press and flatten both ends of the wire to secure the shape. Then, gently open the bent wire slightly to create space for the next shaping step.
STEP 4:
Place a pen or a cylindrical object inside one of the wire bends and gently press the ends of the bend with pliers. This will create a soft petal shape. Repeat this process for all six bends until the wire resembles a flower with rounded petals.
STEP 5:
Form a small loop at the top with round-nose pliers using the remaining wire. This loop will be the attachment point for connecting the flower module to other earring components.
STEP 6:
Take another piece of flat wire and begin rolling it into a spiral using your fingers and round-nose pliers. Keep wrapping until the spiral reaches about half an inch in diameter. At one end of the spiral, create a small loop, this will be used to attach the earring hook.
STEP 7:
Cut a small strip of flat wire and pass it through the center of the spiral. Bend this wire and press it with pliers from one side to hold it in place. On the other side, create a small loop to connect the floral component to the spiral.
STEP 8:
Using pliers, securely attach the loop of the flower module to the spiral component. Attach an earring hook to the loop on the spiral component.
Make sure all the wire connections are secure, and gently adjust the shape if needed. And that’s it!
Your handmade flat wire floral earrings are ready to wear.
